LAFC were awarded penalty in the second-half after David Martínez was brought down in the box by Kosi Thompson. However, Martínez's penalty was denied by a strong left-handed save from Johnson.
Eventually, LAFC doubled their advantage as substitute Frankie Amaya's low finish beat Johnson at the near post.
