Everton are weighing up striker options ahead of the January transfer window as the Toffees look to bolster their frontline, according to The i Paper.

The Merseyside club signed Thierno Barry this summer for £27 million as the long-term solution to the club’s striking woes.

Unfortunately, Barry has struggled in Everton blue, having missed two big chances in seven league appearances and failed to score a goal.

It does not help that his competition, Beto, has also not been firing on all cylinders, leaving Toffees boss David Moyes frustrated.

The club is considering its options ahead of the winter window.

Everton are open to opportunities in January, and there are already a few names being linked with interest from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

One of those names is Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee, who is frustrated with his lack of game time at Old Trafford.

The 6ft4ins Dutch centre-forward is struggling to dislodge big-money summer signing Benjamin Sesko, having failed to deliver the goods himself last season.

Another name that has cropped up is that of Lazio ace Taty Castellanos.

The Toffees enquired about the 27-year-old Argentine forward last summer, and there are talks of the club revisiting a deal.

He has recorded two goals and three assists in six appearances, but he reportedly wants to leave the Roman club because he is unhappy with the new boss, Maurizio Sarri.

Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus has also been mooted as a potential target, even though the Brazilian is still on the treatment table.

Everton will believe they have a chance at signing the former Manchester City star when he is fit, with Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz ahead of him in the pecking order.

It remains to be seen what the club’s hierarchy will do in the January transfer window, but signing a top striker should be at the top of the priority list.
