Seacoast Wednesday Roundup: Portsmouth volleyball wins seventh match, more results

The Portsmouth High School volleyball team improved to 7-5 on the season with a 3-0 win at Spaulding on Wednesday.

ROCHESTER - Harper Huskey had 30 assists and Olivia Wilson had 22 digs and two aces as the Portsmouth High School volleyball team beat Spaulding, 3-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 8 in a Division I contest.

Portsmouth improved to 7-5 on the season, while Spaulding is 3-9.

Individual game scores were 25-22, 25-20, 25-20.

Olivia Wilson

Langley Graham added six kills and two blocks for the Clippers, while Kendall Holt had four kills, three blocks, and three aces.

For Spaulding, Alexis Sanders had five kills, six digs, and two aces, and Ashlyn Heon had 14 digs and four aces. Teammates Ali Fazekas (four kills, six digs) and Sydney King (three kills, four digs, four blocks) contributed.

VOLLEYBALL

Pelham 0

SOMERSWORTH - The Hilltoppers improved to 12-1 on the season with this Division II win.

Individual game scores were 25-15, 25-14, 25-9.

Savanna Comeau had 12 kills, six digs and three aces for Somersworth, while Emily Runions had nine kills, six digs, and six aces. Teammates Maley Clark (five kills) and Kylie Pettengill (23 assists) contributed.

Portsmouth Christian Academy 3

NUTE - Bea Monahan had nine kills, seven digs and two aces, and Dylan Anderson had nine kills for PCA (4-7) in this Division III win.

Individual game scores were 25-13, 25-14, 25-16.

Lauryn Flynn added four kills for the Eagles, while Lexi Jordan had 24 assists and six aces, and Marion Spurr had 15 digs.

KINGSTON - Mallory Baker had one goal and one assist for St. Thomas Aquinas (9-1-1) in its Division III win.

Lucy Broom, Julia Bryan, Maia Scanlon, Fiona Nolan, and Irina Steinberg all had one goal for the Saints, while Cara Forest had two assists. STA goalie Grace Cayer-Salema had three saves.

NASHUA - Hannah Deroy, Hannah Calhoun and Autumn Bernier all scored for Dover in its Division I win.

Fryeburg Academy 2

FRYEBURG, Maine - Bella Santini scored two goals and Nya Avery and Chloe Ridley each had one for York in its Class B South win.

York goalie Adi Regis earned the win.

GOLF

Portsmouth sweeps four-team match

PORTSMOUTH - Thijs Beelan shot a 1-under-par 34 as Portsmouth ended its regular season with a 25-2 record after this four-team sweep at Pease Golf Course.

Grey Gagnon shot a 37 for Clippers, while Grant Haberstroh had a 39, Gus Baker a 41 and Alec Lawton a 44.

Portsmouth won with a team team score of 195, while Oyster River (198), Bow (208) and Kingswood (221) placed second through fourth, respectively.

"The depth of this team continues to impress me," Portsmouth head coach Kyle Harrison said.

For Oyster River, Teagan Nadeau shot a 37, and Joey Alvarez had a 39.

Exeter second in four-team match

ENFIELD - Owen Matthews had a 41 and Ben Smith shot a 42 for Exeter in a four-team match at Montcalm Golf Club.

Hanover won with a team score of 206, beating Exeter (213), Keene (218) and Spaulding (219).
