Algeria secured its presence in the 2026 World Cup.

Returning after absences in Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022).

The Desert Foxes of Mahrez, Bensebaini, and Bentaleb defeated Somalia 3-0 this Thursday (9).

Confirming the leadership of Group G with 22 points. A four-point advantage over Uganda with only one round remaining.

They secured the fourth direct African spot in the World Cup in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Five spots remain.

Now only fighting for the playoffs 🇺🇬

Uganda needed to win and hope for Algeria to lose. It did its part by defeating Botswana 1-0. But it wasn't enough.

It now hopes for a chance to go to the playoffs. It will need to beat Algeria next Tuesday (14) and hope for competitors to falter in other groups.

Mozambique also dreamed of a direct spot, but stopped at 15 points after losing to Guinea 2-1 in Maputo.

Made history in 1982 and in 🇧🇷

This will be only Algeria's fifth World Cup.

It debuted in 1982, in Spain. And made history by defeating then West Germany 2-1 right in the first round of Group 2.
