There was plenty to love about what we saw out of quarterback Jaxson Dart in the dominant 34-17 win over the on Thursday night, but there was also one big negative.

Dart was sensational in his third start, completing 17-of-25 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown. The Ole Miss product also flashed his impressive athleticism by rushing for a score and finishing with 58 yards on the ground in total.

However, if we're going to point to one bad thing about his showing, it's Dart not doing enough to protect himself when he runs the football.

We love his tenacity when he's running with the rock and his toughness is certainly admirable, but he's taking too many big hits and that can often lead to disaster.

Dart took a big hit in the second half and was down on the field for a bit before finally popping back up and jogging off.

He was checked for a concussion and was ultimately cleared, but it was yet another reminder that the rookie has got to slide more.

Through three starts, Dart has been checked for a concussion three times. Dart has been cleared each time and avoided injury, but that doesn't change the fact that he's taking too many big hits and putting himself in danger.

Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka can also help Dart out by calling less plays that give Dart an opportunity to take off.

Rest assured, the Giants are going to work with Dart on protecting himself better a ton moving forward and we hope he'll will take to the coaching because he has a bright future in the NFL.
