Saracens boss Mark McCall is impressed by his side's start to the Prem season but warns there is a long way to go.
Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall has been impressed by his side's performances in their 100% winning start to the Prem season but warned there is a long way to go as they prepare for a London derby with Harlequins at The Stoop on Sunday.
Sarries finished sixth in the table and missed out on the play-offs last season but are top of the league after two bonus-point victories against Newcastle Red Bulls and Bristol Bears this term.
They face a Quins side who have lost their opening two fixtures, against last season's top two Bath and Leicester Tigers, but did the league double over their London rivals last season for the first time since 2019-20.
"It's been good. It's obviously early days. Our attitude and our mentality in the first two games has been good but it's a long season and we've got to continue that, and when games have some adversity in them, we've got to be able to cope well with that when those situations arise," McCall told BBC Radio London.
"We're playing against a team this week who we lost to twice last year. That's just a fact really and they deservedly beat us in both of those games so we're going to have to be a lot better this year than we were last year."
'Willis has improved every area of his game'
England international Tom Willis has been named player of the match in both of Saracens' victories so far - a 39-17 win at Newcastle Red Bulls and a 50-17 demolition of Bristol Bears last weekend.
The 26-year-old back row has eight caps for the Red Rose, including five in this year's Six Nations Championship.
"He's had a brilliant 15 months really, slightly on the outside of that England squad probably at the start of last year. And he's worked really hard at his game and really hard on his fitness and footwork," McCall said.
"There are so many things that tie up to what you see on a Saturday, to be honest, and he's improved everything. He obviously does a lot of eye-catching carrying and that's his, in some respects, his difference.
"But he's improved every area of his game. He's full of confidence at the moment."
