WWE is reportedly planning to blend the worlds of sports entertainment and politics for John Cena’s final match.

According to a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company intends to invite “leading political figures” to the special Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 in Washington, D.C., where Cena is scheduled to have his retirement match. The report also notes that while his attendance is not confirmed, President Donald Trump could potentially be at the event.

The logistics of the President’s schedule on that day were detailed in the report, making an appearance at the show feasible. “They expect leading political figures to be invited and attend this show,” Meltzer wrote.

“Donald Trump has not confirmed coming,” he reported. “He has confirmed being at the Army vs. Navy football game. The game will be at M&T Stadium in Baltimore at 3 p.m. that day, so he easily, if he wanted to, could get to the show.”

A significant White House presence is expected regardless of the President’s final decision. “The belief is there will be a ton of people from the White House at the show, but Trump is undecided at the moment, but a lot of major people have already told WWE they are coming.”

This initiative is reportedly part of a larger company strategy, with the creative staff being told that a planned UFC show at the White House in June 2026 is expected to be “the biggest sports event in American history.”

The McMahon family and Donald Trump have a relationship that spans several decades. Trump has been featured on WWE programming numerous times, including hosting two WrestleMania events at his Trump Plaza venue. His most famous on-screen role was in the “Battle of the Billionaires” storyline opposite Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 23, which ended with Trump shaving McMahon’s head in the middle of the ring.

He was later inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. Additionally, Linda McMahon served as the Administrator of the Small Business Administration in President Trump’s first administration from 2017 to 2019.

This news follows a recent visit to the White House by Stephanie McMahon, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, and Linda McMahon to support a new executive order focused on pediatric cancer research. During the event, Stephanie McMahon gave a speech and shared the story of WWE fan Connor “The Crusher” Michalek to highlight the importance of the initiative.

The event in Washington, D.C. is being positioned as a historic night, celebrating the end of Cena’s legendary career with a match against his reported final opponent, GUNTHER, all while hosting several high-profile political figures.
