Drama continues to swirl around the Philadelphia Eagles’ top stars Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown and Saquon Barkley. After The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Olivia Reiner reported earlier in the week that the trio had a private meeting that lasted an hour, Brown posted on social media that wasn’t the case at all, despite Hurts and Barkley confirming they did have a conversation.

Following the Eagles’ 34-17 upset loss to the New York Giants on Thursday night, reporters asked Brown — who finished the game with six catches for 80 yards — about the conversation he had with his teammates. He wryly responded, “I don’t recall a meeting.”

However, Brown’s follow-up post on X on Friday only added to the confusion.

“Just to clear this up. That wasn’t a meeting or a sit-down,” the wide receiver posted. “I said ‘I don’t recall’ because it got painted like there was tension and Sa had to step in. That’s not true. I was walking to my car, saw them, and stopped to talk. Nothing more.”

Hurts-Brown Tension Brewing for More Than a Year

The spotlight has been shining bright on the relationship between Hurts and Brown for more than a year, especially after Brandon Graham said last December that the two were no longer friends. Graham would later backtrack those comments, while Hurts and Brown cleared the air.

The issue resurfaced following Brown’s cryptic Biblical social media post after the Eagles’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in which he had just two receptions for seven yards.

“If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way,” it read.

The Inquirer’s Jeff McLane initially reported Brown aimed the post “at someone or someones internally with the Eagles,” but Brown would later tell reporters that it wasn’t directed at his coaches or Hurts and that he just let his “frustrations boil over.”

The ongoing drama comes as the Eagles’ offense has struggled through the first six games of the season, getting outgained in every contest. Under new offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, they rank 29th in yards, 28th in passing and 26th in rushing yards per game.

The Birds have 10 days before their next game against the Minnesota Vikings to fix things, but if not, it’s going to be a long season for the defending Super Bowl champions.
