A few days before Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season, the made a couple of trades with AFC teams. Their first move was sending Joe Flacco to the , adding a better draft pick and opening the door for Shedeur Sanders to be the backup quarterback.
Their second trade was a much more interesting one, in which they acquired Tyson Campbell from the for Greg Newsome II as part of a pick-swap. Trading veteran cornerbacks is rare, and with both coming from the same draft class, just seven picks apart, it's an even more interesting deal.
Newsome went from the Browns, who were 1-4 coming off a loss to the in London, to the 4-1 Jaguars, who just beat the on Monday Night Football. Demetrius Harvey of Jacksonville.com shared Newsome's comments on making this switch from the Browns to the Jaguars.

The Browns were expected to struggle this season as they try and figure out their quarterback room with Dillon Gabriel and Sanders, but sitting at 1-4, it's easy to imagine players being frustrated.
Newsome described the situation as one where he was "sitting there mad." Cleveland lost multiple games in a row, and even though they had an incredible win over the , the back-to-back tough losses to the Vikings and hurt.
With the 3-1 hosting the Browns in Week 6, the Browns have a tough task in front of them to beat a strong Steelers team.
That's why, for Newsome, going from a team that is struggling to stay in games to the Jaguars, a team that just beat a top Super Bowl contender, to move to 4-1 and stay tied atop the AFC South, it's a very exciting move.

Now, Newsome is potentially in line to make it to the playoffs if the Jaguars can stay strong, and with how good the defense in Jacksonville has looked, it wouldn't be a surprise if they were a playoff team this season.
Going from a team looking to select at the top of the NFL Draft to a playoff team is a huge switch. Newsome getting traded wasn't something he expected, but it's something he's excited about.
The former Browns cornerback is happy to be in Jacksonville, as he's gone from a 1-4 team coming off back-to-back losses, to a 4-1 team that just beat Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in primetime. Newsome is happy the Browns made this deal, as he's now on a team that has a significantly better record than the Browns this season.
