The revealed surprising news on running back Miles Sanders and it is also huge news for rookie running back Jaydon Blue.
Cowboys co-owner Stephen Jones revealed on 105.3 The Fan on Friday that Sanders has season-ending knee and ankle injuries (h/T The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov).
What this also means is Blue is now in line to serve as the backup to Javonte Williams, who is in the midst of a career-best season.
"Cowboys RB Miles Sanders will miss the rest of the season with knee and ankle injuries, per Stephen Jones on 105.3 The Fan," Meirov shared. "Rookie Jaydon Blue will serve as the backup to Javonte Williams."
Sanders has been dealing with knee and ankle injuries for a few weeks now based on the team's injury report, but there was no indication he was dealing with anything that serious.
Blue didn't play a single snap for the Cowboys over the first four games of the year, but he finally got in on the action in Week 5 with Sanders sidelined due to injury.

Blue carried the rock four times for seven yards but did not see any work in the passing game.
While this obviously provides a boost for Blue's stock, don't expect a huge bump in work for the rookie, as Sanders was averaging just five carries and 2 targets per game while operating behind Williams.
Javonte will continue to operate as the clear lead back, but Blue is now one injury away from potentially having a prominent role in Dallas' offense.
