Austintown Fitch (5-1) will visit Boardman in week nine.
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Fitch Falcons look to move to 6-1 on the season Friday night, with Erie McDowell standing in their way.
After a slow start, the Fitch offense stormed back from a small deficit to take a 14-6 lead.
McDowell opened the scoring with a pair of field goals to build a 6-0 advantage midway through the second quarter.
Fitch then answered with two quick touchdown passes from quarterback Collin Kalaher. He first connected with Brady Evans on a 40-yard score, then hit Deon’Dray Richard with a 55-yard screen pass for a touchdown to give the Falcons a 14-6 lead.
Fitch extended its advantage in the third quarter when Mark Fitzgerald returned an interception 11 yards for a touchdown, pushing the lead to 21-6.
McDowell answered late in the third quarter with a touchdown pass, but the two-point conversion attempt failed, leaving the score at 21-12.
The Falcons currently lead, 21-12, in the fourth quarter as of the last update.
