Moody reaches 5 TD’s, 3k career yards in Liberty win

Dawaun Moody rushed for four touchdowns and returned a punt for another to lead Liberty to a 34-28 victory over LaBrae Friday night.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Dawaun Moody rushed for four touchdowns and returned a punt for another on a night where he surpassed 3,000 career rushing yards as Liberty held off LaBrae for a 34-28 victory Friday night.

Moody opened the scoring with a 51-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and Dyionn Tutwiler added a 71-yard rushing touchdown early in the second quarter to give the Leopards a 14-0 lead.

LaBrae rallied with back-to-back one-yard touchdown runs from Easton Armstrong to tie the game at 14-14 late in the second quarter.

Moody answered with a 15-yard touchdown run just before halftime, though the extra point was missed, giving Liberty a 20-14 halftime advantage.

Liberty extended its lead in the third quarter as Moody scored on a 20-yard run, then returned a punt 81 yards for a touchdown to push the advantage to 34-14.

LaBrae mounted a late rally with Armstrong’s third one-yard touchdown run and Kenny Yoho’s eight-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Bate in the final minute, but Liberty held on for the win.

LaBrae (4-4) will host Southeast in week nine. Liberty (6-2) will visit Champion.
