Constantine piles up points, Sturgis loses on homecoming night in Week 7 roundup

Plainwell won a battle of Trojans with Sturgis, while Constantine emphatically erased a first-quarter deficit. See how other Week 7 games turned out here.

STURGIS ― Plainwell scored 26 unanswered points en route to a 33-7 spoiling of the Sturgis football homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 10.

The battle of the Trojans went the way of the visitors as Plainwell had the overall advantage in total yards, 484-242.

Plainwell and Sturgis traded turnovers and punts in the opening quarter before Landon Nass hit Chib Amazechi for a 20-yard score midway in the second quarter to give Plainwell the first points.

Sturgis would answer. On the ensuing possession, Darren Speelman broke free for a 59-yard touchdown run to get the orange and black on the board.

Plainwell, though, got scores from Bennett Riddeman and Drew Rayman before halftime to take control.

During halftime festivities, Benji Morales and Marlee Smith were announced as the homecoming king and queen.

Speelman led Sturgis with 79 yards rushing, Melachi Warner added 77 on the ground while Beckett Lamb added 44. Lamb completed five passes for 40 yards. Gavin Lewis caught two for 20, Speelman caught two for 13 and Warner added one for seven yards.

Hudson Lamb had 10 tackles to lead the defense. Warner, Lewis and Speelman had 5.5 stops. Oliver Lamb forced a fumble while Beckett Lamb intercepted a pass.

Constantine 60, Parchment 29

Constantine got back in the win column, piling up 33 first downs and 545 rushing yards.

Even so, Parchment led the game 21-14 after one. Constantine got touchdown runs of 4 and 57 yards from Brody Godfrey in the quarter.

In the second, Constantine took control. The Falcons got TD runs of 8 and 12 yards from Cooper McGee and one of 3 yards from Godfrey.

Godfrey found the end zone on a 13-yard run in the third, McGee rushed for a 12-yard run as well. Also scoring in the third for the Falcons was Bear Geibe from 12 yards.

Godfrey finished with 238 yards on 18 carries and four scores. McGee rumbled for 189 yards and three scores.

Carson Jacobs and Buck Cramer led the defense with seven tackles a piece.

Edwardsburg 27, Three Rivers 0

The Eddies scored a single touchdown in all four quarters and held Three Rivers to 106 total yards in the game.
