SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Major League Baseball is in the midst of the MLB playoffs to see who will go to the World Series.
But a different kind of baseball is coming to the Birdcage in Sioux Falls next summer: Banana Ball.
“It’s something totally different than what you’re used to seeing on TV baseball-wise,” Canaries General Manager Duell Higbe said.
They call themselves the greatest show in sports.
The Canaries announced that the Banana Ball World Tour will be coming to Sioux Falls next summer when the Firefighters take on the Indianapolis Clowns.
The game of Banana Ball has an entirely different set of rules,
“They did something totally different where a fan catches a ball in the stands; batter’s out,” Higbe said.
Plus, you can expect a lot of showboating from the players, who are mostly very athletic and skilled former college players.
Higbe says they are the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball.
“It’s the game, but as they say a party breaks out during the game; they are doing flips and tricks and dances, all the above. It’s a true entertainment show,” Higbe said.
The Birdcage holds about 4,700 fans and Higbe thinks it’ll sell out all three nights.
“It’s going to be madness 23:47:48 I didn’t realize I had so many friends in Sioux Falls, since we announced it, everybody is reaching out, how do we get tickets?” Higbe said.
This is the first time Banana Ball has been in South Dakota and Higbe thinks Sioux Falls will go Bananas when they come to town.
The games will be played on August 27th, 28th, and 29th.

Incidentally, Higbe says two former Canaries players now play for the Banana Ball League.
