FRONTENAC, KS. — Frontenac Football improves to 5-1 overall after taking down Baxter Springs in dominant fashion 35-7.
This one was all Raiders all night as Baxter Springs’ lone touchdown of the game came in the final minutes when this one was all but over.
It was a bit of a shaky start for the Raiders, though, considering Frontenac lost a fumble on its opening drive. While the Lions recovered the fumble, Baxter Springs wasn’t able to get anything going offensively on the ensuing possession.
From there, the Frontenac offense got rolling. QB Brogan Smith connected with Jacob Murphy through the air to open the scoring in the first quarter.
In the second, Luke Sneed showcased his speed, turning on the jets for a lengthy rushing touchdown to open the second quarter with a 13-0 lead.
Smith then decided to join in on the touchdown palooza, as the Raiders QB found the end zone using his legs on Frontenac’s next possession and a successful 2-pt conversion made it 21-0 at the half.
From that point on, Frontenac was in cruise control as the big lead never faltered.
The Raiders now sit 5-1 and will face Columbus on the road next time out. As for Baxter Springs, the Lions drop to 2-4 overall and will look to bounce back with a home game against Neodesha next Friday.
