Steelers WR Calvin Austin ruled out vs. Browns: 3 WRs who can replace him in Week 6

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Calvin Austin has been ruled out for Week 6, opening the door for three WRs to take his place against the Cleveland Browns.

An expected outcome, WR Calvin Austin III was ruled out of Sunday's AFC North matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns after missing three straight practices with a shoulder injury suffered in Week 4.

While Austin's presence will be sorely missed, these three wideouts should carry the load against Cleveland — offering the Aaron Rodgers-led offense enough productivity to potentially reign victorious over the Browns in Week 6.

One of Pittsburgh's most surprising preseason breakouts, Miller has yet to catch a pass this season — but that should definitely change against the Browns in Week 6. Following Austin's shoulder injury, some in the NFL, including PennLive's reporter Nick Farabaugh, believe Miller is the next man up as the Steelers' lightning-fast receiver misses time.

Roman Wilson

If Austin's absence doesn't open the door for Wilson's Year 2 breakout, I'm not sure anything will. Selected in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Wilson has steadily seen his usage decline over the past few weeks — but that may change in the Steelers' first divisional matchup of the season. The talent definitely exists; all Wilson needs is a chance to prove himself, with Austin's shoulder injury serving as the potential catalyst.

Ben Skowronek

Despite starting off on the injury report with an illness, Skowronek isn't carrying an injury designation heading into Week 6 and figures to be one of Rodgers’ favorite targets vs. the Browns. While Skowronek has only caught one pass in four games — a 22-yard touchdown in Week 1 — his versatility and willingness to run block should earn him more than enough offensive snaps to make an impact against Cleveland.
