Dani Ceballos had one step out of the doors at Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, with a transfer to Olympique de Marseille all but agreed.

However, the 29-year-old midfielder ended up backing out from the deal at the last moment, instead opting to stay at Real Madrid to fight for his place in Xabi Alonso’s team.

And while things were not off to the best start, with minutes hardly coming his way, Ceballos’ situation has considerably improved in recent weeks.

Ceballos determined; Real Madrid happy

Now, according to journalist Alvaro Esteban, Ceballos is determined to completely win over Alonso’s trust and become an important player for Real Madrid.

As such, the Spanish midfielder has been training daily at Valdebebas despite the players not being called up for international duty being given a break until Monday.

This just goes on to showcase Ceballos’ dedication and resolve, with the player confident that he can be a key member of the team under Alonso’s tutelage.

The report further states that Real Madrid are very satisfied with what they are seeing from the midfield ace so far.

Ceballos growing in prominence

So far this season, Ceballos has played in seven of Real Madrid’s ten matches in all competitions, racking up a total of 326 minutes.

What is interesting to note is that the 29-year-old ace has been growing in prominence under Alonso in recent weeks.

Indeed, Ceballos started three of Real Madrid’s previous five La Liga matches – against Real Sociedad, Levante, and Villarreal, as well as their second UEFA Champions League match against Kairat Almaty.

The Spaniard offers a different flavour to the rest of the midfielders in the squad – balancing creativity with control in midfield. And he is fully dedicated to establishing himself as an important part of the team.
