Arsenal received nominations in the Premier League’s Goal of the Month, Player of the Month, and Manager of the Month categories for September, and Martin Zubimendi ended up winning the first of those three awards.
Zubimendi had been nominated for his fantastic volley against Nottingham Forest, and he ended up winning the public vote.
The Arsenal midfielder beat out one of his own teammates for the accolade, with Gabriel Martinelli also receiving a nomination for his lobbed finish over Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Zubimendi had also been nominated for the Player of the Month award, but the overwhelming favourite in that case was always Erling Haaland. With five goals and one assist in the Premier League in September, it was no surprise Haaland received the award.
As for Manager of the Month, Mikel Arteta ending up missing out in favour of Oliver Glasner.
Both managers won two Premier League matches and drew one in September, but perhaps the fact Glasner did it with Crystal Palace gave him the edge.

Even if he was never going to win the Premier League’s Player of the Month award and he’s likely to miss out on the PFA’s award as well, it’s encouraging that Zubimendi is already receiving these nominations.
To win the Goal of the Month award is also nice, and with any luck it won’t be the last for Arsenal this season.
