FAMU football names Jett Peddy starting QB vs North Carolina Central, replaces RJ Johnson

FAMU football is starting Jett Peddy at quarterback in Week 7 versus North Carolina Central on Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium.

Jett Peddy will have the keys to the Florida A&M football offense versus North Carolina Central.

Multiple sources close to the Rattlers football team told the Tallahassee Democrat that the transfer from Long Beach City College will start for FAMU in the Week 7 game versus NCCU Eagles.

Florida A&M Rattlers quarterback Jett Peddy (8) passes to a teammate down the field. The Florida A&M Rattlers defeated the Albany State Golden Rams during the first home game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025.

Peddy replaces RJ Johnson III, who's started in the Rattlers' first four games of the season.

FAMU went 1-3 in those games and most recently fell 42-14 to Alabama State, dropping to 0-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play after the Week 5 blowout.

Peddy will make his first appearance since Week 3, when he led FAMU to its first scoring drive in its 33-25 comeback victory against Albany State. The Torrance, California native went nine for 14 for 99 yards, against an interception.

On the season, Peddy has completed 10 of 21 pass attempts and has 104 yards in two games against Florida Atlantic and Albany State.

FAMU and NCCU kicks off at 3 p.m. on the Rattlers' Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium. The HBCU matchup will be televised on HBCU GO and also will be on Tallahassee radio airwaves via 96.1 JAMZ.
