IWC Schaffhausen’s Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL worn and shock-tested by Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff, will be auctioned online by Bonhams
An IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot's Watch Shock Absorber XPL worn and shock-tested by Mercedes Formula 1 team chief Toto Wolff is set to be auctioned by Bonhams for Laureus Sport For Good, with an estimate of CHF80,000-200,000 (£74,943-187,358).
The limited-edition watch is just one of 100 and will be sold alongside a Mercedes polo shirt signed by the Brackley outfit's team chief. Wolff wore the watch during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, at which Mercedes' George Russell clinched victory after starting the race from pole position.
According to the press release, the inspiration for the watch came from Wolff's viral moment during the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix when he slammed his headset down onto the table. Wearing a prototype at the time, the watch, which features a SPRIN-g PROTECT shock-absorber system, remained unscathed,
Bidding will begin on the Bonhams website on 15 October 2025 and is set to run until 25 October 2025, coming to a close on stage during the Laureus Charity Night in Zurich.
The proceeds of the sale will go to the Laureus Foundation Switzerland, a charity which supports over 20,000 children in Switzerland every year through social sports projects.
"The Laureus Charity Night, one of my favourite events, brings together a passionate group of supporters and partners, all united by a commitment to driving social change through sport to create a better future for children and young adults," Franziska Gsell, chief marketing officer of IWC Schaffhausen said in a statement.

"This time, again, we are honoured to present a very special timepiece for auction – a highly complex watch that has been worn and shock-tested by none other than Toto Wolff, the CEO and Team Principal of our partner, the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula OneTM Team.
"By collaborating with Bonhams and making the auction accessible online, we are enabling even more interested bidders to participate and contribute to an amazing result."
Penny Andrews, Bonhams' head of watches London, added: "Building on from the success of Bonhams IWC and Toto Wolff Charity Auction in 2022 that raised £160,000 for charity, we are delighted to take part in this year's charity gala, offering the limited-edition IWC Schaffhausen timepiece worn by Toto Wolff.
"The Laureus Charity Night is a notable event, where significant funds are raised for such a valuable cause, helping children find positivity through sports. The watch will be available on bonhams.com from 15-25 October with all proceeds donated to the charity."
