Michigan State football may have lost quarterback Aidan Chiles during the game in Week 7 vs. UCLA in East Lansing on Saturday, Oct. 11.
Chiles appeared to have been hurt on the eighth play of MSU's first drive of the second half. On second-and-10 from the UCLA 42, with the Spartans trailing 24-7, Chiles pulled the ball down on a pass play and scrambled. While trying to spin out of a second tackle attempt, he ran into a third Bruin who dropped him with a hit to the head.
Backup QB Alessio Milivojevic came in on the next play, throwing a pair of interceptions to turn the ball over on downs. Chiles was later seen on the sidelines with his helmet off and a towel over his head.
Chiles hadn't been effective before the hit, though: The second-year starter was just 8-for-17 for 66 yards as MSU scored a touchdown on its opening drive and gave up 24 straight points in the first half
It has already been a year filled with injuries for the Spartans, most notably on the offensive line where MSU is down starting left tackle Stanton Ramil and guard Luka Vincic.
In the Week 6 loss to Nebraska, the Spartans lost quarterback Aidan Chiles for a few snaps and then sat him down for the final drive as he took hit after hit against the Cornhuskers.
Next week the stakes get even higher for the Spartans as they travel to Indiana to face a Hoosiers squad that has looked like one of the best teams in the country.
