Tiger Woods underwent another back surgery on Friday.
Tiger Woods' return to the PGA Tour may have to wait even longer.
Woods announced on Saturday that he had undergone lumbar disc replacement surgery in his lower back. The surgery, which took place on Friday, was deemed a success.
"After experiencing pain and lack of mobility in my back, I consulted with doctors and surgeons to have tests taken," Woods said in a statement. "The scans determined that I had a collapsed disc in L4/5, disc fragments and a compromised spinal canal. I opted to have my disc replaced yesterday, and I already know I made a good decision for my health and my back."
Woods did not compete at all on the PGA Tour last season. He was set to make his debut at The Genesis Invitational in February, which is the tournament he hosts each year in Southern California, but he withdrew shortly after the death of his mother. He then announced in March that he had ruptured his left Achilles while training, which knocked him out for the rest of the season.
It's unclear when Woods will attempt to make it back to the Tour, though he likely wasn't going to play again until The Genesis Invitational next year anyways. How long his latest surgery has set him back is still unknown.
