In an effort to get to know the Jets' upcoming opponent, we spoke to our friends at Broncos Wire to help get some insight on the upcoming opponent.
Here is a Broncos Q&A with Broncos Wire's Brandon Walker ahead of Sunday's matchup:
It feels like Bo Nix has been heating up the past two week. I like him. Is that the case?
BW: Nix has been taking care of the football, and in last week's win over the Eagles, showed poise under pressure in an 18-point comeback. Nix is ahead of where he was in Year 1, and I believe he will only continue to mature and be the leader in the locker room.
Where is Courtland Sutton right now? I think he's so good and so overlooked. How important is he?
BW: Sutton is THE guy for Nix. When Nix is in trouble, goal-to-go situations or third down plays, Sutton is the person Nix looks to. Despite having some quiet games, Sutton leads the team in targets, catches, yards and touchdowns. There is hardly any overstatement in how much of a veteran presence Sutton is in the Broncos' wide receiver room.
The Jets offense needs a lot of help, where is the weak link in the Broncos defense they should attack?
BW: I think it's fair to say the Jets should stay away from Pat Surtain. If there is any vulnerability, it is likely third-year corner and No. 2 behind Surtain, Riley Moss. Moss is usually paired opposite of Surtain, and gets the volume of targets with Surtain on an island.
Defensively, the Jets have been a mess all over the place. In a similar fashion, what's the one area they should solidify against the Broncos?
BW: If the Jets want to make Denver one-dimensional, take away J.K. Dobbins and the run game. Without the run game, Nix has struggled mightily, despite solid route planning and game planning from head coach Sean Payton.
Final score prediction and why?
BW: I think a lot of people believe the Broncos will run away with this one, but it could be a lot closer than you think. Denver, with the exception of Week 4, has been within seven points in every game this year. I think Denver will win, but it could be closer than most would think. Broncos 27, Jets 18.
