Captain Shreve’s Osborne Demery wins Shreveport Times football Athlete of the Week 5 poll

Captain Shreve offensive/defensive lineman Osborne Demery topped 14 additional athletes from 14 North Louisiana football teams to win the annual 2025-26 Times football Athlete of the Week poll for Week 5 in the Raising Cane’ Raising Cane’s, Cosse and Silmon Orthodontics and the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission sponsored event.

Demery and his fans accumulated 26,310 votes, 40% of the 64,601 votes cast in the poll that ran for a week at Shreveporttimes.com. Finishing second with a strong performance was Parkway’s Brady Pine who notched an impressive 20,444 votes (31.5%).

Demery will be presented a sports backpack with a Raising Cane’s boxed lunch gift card and some swag courtesy of Raising Cane’s, Cosse and Silmon Orthodontics, the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission and The Times.

Playing on both sides of the line at various times for the Gators, the 6-foot, 305-pound Demery has been a solid performer for coach Jeremy Wilburn this fall. Demery said battling with his football brothers has been the most enjoyable experience of his senior year so far.

“Being recognized in the news and playing my last year with the brothers I’ve known since middle school has been fun,” he said. “My future plans are to go to college for medicine and nutrition and to commit and play football at the next level at a college that offers me and feels like home to me.”
