Atlético Madrid is already planning for the future, especially considering the potential departure of Julian Álvarez, who has been heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona as a possible successor to Robert Lewandowski. Anticipating this major shake-up, the Madrid board has begun scouring the market and appears to have identified their top target: Ademola Lookman.

According to Fichajes, the 27-year-old Nigerian international, currently under contract with Atalanta Bergamo until 2027, is at the top of the Colchoneros’ shortlist. After a turbulent summer surrounded by transfer rumors, Lookman looks to be regaining his form following a quiet start to the season, with only three appearances so far.

His market value is currently estimated at around €40 million, a figure that could drop next summer as he enters the final year of his contract. His versatility, ability to break down defenses on the wings, and clinical finishing have particularly impressed Diego Simeone, who sees him as the ideal replacement for Álvarez should the latter head to Catalonia. Atlético is therefore expected to make their move in the opening weeks of the transfer window.
