Where are BYU and Utah ranked headed into the rivalry game?

For the first time since 2009, the BYU-Utah rivalry game will be a matchup of two ranked teams.

The Utes rolled past No. 21 Arizona State 42-10 Saturday night, while BYU rallied from 10 down in the fourth quarter to beat Arizona 23-17.

Those results, combined with a busy college football weekend full of upsets, had both teams climbing in the top 25 national rankings.

Where are BYU and Utah ranked in the latest AP and LBM Coaches polls after Week 7?

BYU (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) climbed three spots to No. 15 in the latest Associated Press rankings with 655 points, while the Cougars moved up four spots to No. 14 in the US LBM Coaches poll with 720 points.

Utah (5-1, 2-1 Big 12), meanwhile, climbed back into the rankings after being just outside both major polls last week.

The Utes jumped to No. 23 in the AP poll with 261 points and No. 22 in the US LBM Coaches rankings with 298 points following their dominant victory over the defending Big 12 champions.

Which Big 12 teams are ranked following Week 6?

There are four total Big 12 teams in the national top 25 rankings this week, including BYU and Utah.

Texas Tech (6-0, 3-0 Big 12), after a 42-17 win over Kansas, moved up two spots to No. 7 in the AP rankings and two spots to No. 8 in the Coaches poll.

Cincinnati (5-1, 3-0 Big 12), following its fifth straight win — a victory over UCF — entered the polls for the first time. The Bearcats are No. 24 in both major polls.

Iowa State, which lost to Colorado, and Arizona State both fell out of the rankings.

No additional Big 12 teams are among “others receiving votes” in the AP poll, though Arizona State, Iowa State, Houston and TCU received votes in the Coaches rankings.

There was major shakeup polls this week, with seven ranked teams losing. The biggest impact at the top came from Indiana beating Oregon 30-20 in Eugene.

The top 5 in the AP rankings is Ohio State at No. 1, Miami at No. 2, Indiana at No. 3 after moving up four spots, Texas A&M at No. 4 (up one spot) and Ole Miss moving down one spot to No. 5.

Oregon, after losing to the Hoosiers, dropped five spots to No. 8.

In the US LBM Coaches rankings, Ohio State stayed at No. 1, though the rest of the top 5 changed. Now, it includes Miami at No. 2, Indiana at No. 3, Texas A&M at No. 4 and Ole Miss at No. 5.
