Bengals asked about quarterbacks Davis Mills, Sam Howell, retired Derek Carr, per report

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Bengals' QB search involved "calling nearly all teams" with three QBs or a viable practice-squad option.

The Cincinnati Bengals asked about quarterbacks Davis Mills of the Houston Texans, Sam Howell of the Philadelphia Eagles and Derek Carr, the longtime Raiders starter who recently retired after two seasons with the New Orleans Saints, among others, before trading for Joe Flacco, according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport's report came hours before Flacco's first start for the Bengals, against the Packersat Lambeau Field. Rapoport added that the Bengals' "exhaustive QB search" involved "calling nearly all teams" with three quarterbacks or a viable practice-squad option.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reported one day after the Bengals acquired Flacco from Cleveland that there was pre-trade chatter about Howell and Seattle backup QB Drew Lock.

If Flacco leads the Bengals to a win against the Packers, he'd become the first NFL quarterback to beat a team twice in the same season with different teams since 1962, when Jack Kemp led the Chargers and the Bills to wins against the New York Titans.
