In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Barcelona remain keen on recruiting Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez. It has been mentioned that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to bring the Argentine talent to the Nou Camp, but could find it difficult to fund a move for him next year.
Alvarez’s Impressive Form In La Liga This Season
The 25-year-old has made an excellent start to this campaign as he has put in a string of impressive displays for Diego Simeone’s side in the final third. Alvarez has banged in seven goals and grabbed three assists in nine matches for the Madrid outfit this season across all competitions.
The Argentina international has led the line well for Atletico and deserves credit for averaging 2.31 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has kept 56.3% of his attempts on target. Alvarez has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 77.9% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Wanda Metropolitano will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for the Catalan club to sign him on the cheap next year.

Will Alvarez Be A Dream Signing For Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick?
Alvarez is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is an excellent dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Argentine sensation has proven his worth as a consistent goal-scorer at the highest level. Alvarez is primarily a centre-forward but can also play as a winger on either flank if told to do so. He is already quite familiar with La Liga and has what it takes to make an immediate impact at the Catalan club.
Alvarez would no doubt enhance the quality of Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s frontline. He is more than capable of nailing down a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp.
Furthermore, Alverez would serve as a good long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski at the Catalan club. All in all, he would be a dream signing for Flick to pull off next year.
