Luton Town are closing in on the appointment of Jack Wilshere as their new head coach, The Sporting News understands.
The 33-year-old former and England midfielder has agreed terms following positive discussions with the club's hierarchy over the weekend and is expected to be unveiled on Monday.
Wilshere, who left Norwich City at the end of last season, was among the frontrunners after Matt Bloomfield's dismissal earlier this week.
Bloomfield departed after just nine months in charge, with the Hatters sitting 11th in League One following five defeats from their opening 11 games.
Richie Wellens, who had been considered a strong candidate, opted to remain with Leyton Orient, while Watford coach Charlie Daniels was also discussed internally.
Wilshere ultimately emerged as Luton's preferred choice to take the club forward. The former midfielder stepped in as caretaker at Norwich for the final two matches of last season, guiding the Canaries to a draw at Middlesbrough and a final-day win over Cardiff.

He had also been considered by Plymouth Argyle before they appointed Tom Cleverley earlier this summer.
For Wilshere, who began his coaching career with Arsenal's U18s before joining Norwich's backroom staff in October 2024, the Luton role represents his first permanent job in senior management.
Luton are expected to formally present their new head coach at a press conference on Monday, as the club looks to halt its decline following successive relegations from the Premier League and Championship.
