The board at La Liga giants Barcelona turned down the opportunity to bring in a member of the defensive ranks at European champions Paris Saint-Germain this past summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Lucas Beraldo as the player in question.
Barcelona spent the final weeks of the recent transfer window combing the market for potential cut-price reinforcements at the back.
This came after Iñigo Martínez made the surprise call to depart Catalunya’s capital for Saudi Arabia.
And at one point, in the thick of their search, Deco and co. were offered up the services of the aforementioned Lucas Beraldo.
After finding himself in and out of Luis Enrique’s XI in Paris last season, the 21-year-old is understood to have been made available to the Blaugrana.
As confirmed by MD, however, ‘he didn’t excite either Deco or Flick’, with the Camp Nou brass having therefore made the call not to move forward with a deal.
