The once again faced an opposing offense that looked elite against their defense, resulting in a 30-27 loss to the on a day that will be remembered as the Rico Dowdle game.
Matt Eberflus' defense knew Rico was coming, and they couldn't stop him running all over them to the tune of 183 yards from a whopping 30 carries, as Dallas was beaten into submission, and what makes it worse was that Dak Prescott and the offense's performance was again for nothing.
Like George Pickens for example. He posted 168 yards and a touchdown, which now gives him six on the year, a career-high, and instead of celebrating what should be a good achievement, it's another emotion that No. 3 is feeling.
"Just like disheartening because I definitely want to get the dub first over anything," Pickens said.

Without CeeDee Lamb, many were wondering if Pickens could step up and assume the No. 1 receiver role, and in these last two weeks, there is no doubt that he has.
He's posted 57 yards and a touchdown, and then his 168-yard, one-touchdown game against the Panthers shows that the wavelength between him and Dak is now as high as it's ever been, and what that means for the offense when Lamb returns is a tantalizing prospect.
But until the defense improves to just being average, we might get more games like this, where the offense did enough to win the game, but the defense can't slow anyone down.
Pickens is disheartened, and we imagine Cowboys Nation is, too.
