Juventus Could Throw Their Hat in the Ring for Maignan

Juventus are evaluating whether to join the list of teams lining up to snap up Mike Maignan on a free transfer next summer. Milan and his camp haven’t resumed negotiating an extension despite deciding they would stick together this year.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri don’t seem too keen on handing the goalie a renewal with a bumped-up salary because of his age. The player’s entourage has tested the waters for a few possible destinations. After almost acquiring him last summer, Chelsea would be the frontrunners if they were still in the market for a shot-stopper in 2026. Bayern Munich could also be in the mix.

Juventus have lodged an inquiry to assess the requests by Maignan and his representatives. The star currently makes €2.8M annually. It wouldn’t be challenging for the Old Lady to give him a pay rise. However, they probably won’t offer as much as the Premier League giants annually.

If the Bianconeri successfully landed the Frenchman, they believe it wouldn’t be difficult to find a new home and possibly turn a profit on Michele Di Gregorio. He has always had some admirers in England.

It’s not exactly a priority, as the former Monza stalwart has been solid, but bringing in an upgrade for zilch and then cashing in would be a savvy player trading. Milan could perhaps justify not re-upping with a veteran in previous years, but they really can’t after signing Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modric. Perhaps there’s just too much bad blood between the parties. It remains to be seen whether he’d be willing to move to a rival or if he’ll decide to leave Italy for greener pastures.
