Patriots vs Titans Predictions - Early Picks & Odds for Week 7

Our Patriots vs. Titans predictions expect New England to keep rolling against this lowly Tennessee squad.

The New England Patriots are looking like a playoff team after three straight wins, and they’re poised to extend that run on Sunday against the 1-5 Tennessee Titans.

Another impressive Drake Maye performance sunk the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, and my Patriots vs. Titans predictions trust New England as a big road favorite, especially with the defense holding the last three opponents to 20 points or fewer.

Read on for my NFL picks ahead of this Sunday, October 19, contest.

Patriots vs Titans predictions

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early Patriots vs Titans spread pick: Patriots -6.5

This line is quite the statement about the New England Patriots' rise and the Tennessee Titans' struggles, and I’m buying into the Patriots as a sleeper in the AFC. Drake Maye tossed three touchdown passes on Sunday in New Orleans, and there’s no reason to think the Titans can keep pace in this Week 7 battle.

Tennessee is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 outings (and 1-9 SU), and the hosts would have a 0-6 record this season but for the Cardinals’ stunning collapse earlier this month. Things went from bad to worse on Sunday with a 20-10 setback against the Raiders and a hamstring injury for No.1 receiver Calvin Ridley.

On the flip side, New England is 3-0 on the road this year, covering the spread in all three victories, and 5-2 ATS in its past seven contests. Sure, a third road game in a row may take a toll, but I prefer to bank on Maye — who finished with 261 passing yards last weekend despite a quiet afternoon for Stefon Diggs — to spearhead a comfortable win.

The visitors are also 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings between these teams, and laying a spread of less than a touchdown feels like the safest play on the board.

Early Patriots vs Titans total pick: Under 41.5

It’s too early to jump to conclusions about Cam Ward as a franchise QB, but the Titans scored just 10 points on Sunday on the heels of being shut out in Week 4. That makes the Under an appealing pick, especially against a New England defense that’s allowing the fourth-fewest rushing yards per game (83.5) in the NFL.

Other numbers tell the same story. The Under is 4-2 in the Patriots’ past six outings, and it’s 3-1 in the last four matchups between these teams.

New England only allowed three points in the second half over the weekend, so Ward is going to be in a rough spot if Ridley is ruled out for Week 7. It’s simply asking too much for Van Jefferson and Elic Ayomanor to prop up the passing game in his absence against Christian Gonzalez and an ever-improving Patriots secondary.

It’s not as if Maye is going to get an easy ride, either. Tennessee boasts a slightly above-average pass defense and held the Raiders to 226 yards of offense on Sunday.

Still, this pick really comes back to the Titans, who’ve scored 21+ points in just one of their last eight games, and they’re averaging 13.8 points per game this year, a fraction behind the Browns for the league’s most hopeless offense.
