The Dallas Cowboys played the Carolina Panthers Sunday and it didn't go well.
The Dallas Cowboys roller coaster took a plunge, as the Cowboys found a way to lose to the Carolina Panthers, 30-27.
The Dallas defense reverted to terrible, as it has been for five of six games, and raised the question as to whether the Cowboys are buying or selling as the trade deadline looms.
The always-optimistic Cowboys will probably look to add in their chase to 8-8-1, but this is a hard team to predict.
Dallas Cowboys final score
The Cowboys managed to lose 30-27 on a last-play field goal by the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers won the game with a tough fourth-down fourth-and-four completion from Bryce Young to Hunter Renfrow.
Did Dallas Cowboys win?
They did not.
Rico Dowdle
Rico Dowdle was the Cowboys' running back last season, but Dallas lost him in free agency to Carolina. For the most part he hasn't been missed, as Javonte Williams has been excellent, but Dowdle ripped up his former team Sunday.
Before the game Dowdle told Dallas to "buckle up," then he went off for 183 rushing yards and 58 receiving yards, making him the seventh player in NFL history to have 230 yards from scrimmage or more in back-to-back games.
Dowdle's take afterwards: "They wasn't buckled up."
Skip Bayless twitter
This is presumably about the media celebrity's post (a former star for the defunct Dallas Times Herald) where he trashed the Cowboys, who he claims to be a fan of.
"I just watched three hours of excruciating garbage," he said.
Dallas Cowboys trade rumors
The top names are still Trey Hendrickson (which makes the most sense), Maxx Crosy (Raiders aren't trading him) and, oddly, Alvin Kamara (Dallas has bigger needs than running back).
The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 4, so there is still a few more weeks of this speculation.
Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator
Give the blame to Matt Eberflus. He was the head coach of the Chicago Bears last year but got fired for being poor at being a head coach. There were a number of poor game management decisions. He then got hired as the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator, and didn't get fired after his former team, the Bears, suckered him with a string of trick plays.
Dallas played well against the New York Jets, so now the Cowboys have played well defensively in one out of six games. One of those wasn't against Carolina Sunday, so the head it on the coordinator of Dallas' weak link.
NFC East standings
Philadelphia is 4-2 after getting routed on Monday night by the now now 2-4 New York Giants. Washington is 3-2 heading into their Monday Night Football game against Chicago, while Dallas plugs along at 2-3-1.
Philadelphia 4-2
Washington 3-2
Dallas 2-3-1
New York Giants 2-4
Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving game
The Dallas Cowboys play Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day. This is about the time of year Dallas announces the halftime performer, which last year was Lainey Wilson and Jelly Roll. So stay tuned.
Dallas Cowboys elevate Parris Campbell
Yes, the Dallas Cowboys moved receiver Parris Campbell from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. He's on the real Cowboys team now. The 28-year-old is in his seventh year in the league and was a second-round draft pick out of Ohio State in 2019. He was with the Eagles last year.
