Although there were no changes at the top, several new Louisiana high school football teams moved into the LSWA statewide football poll
The Louisiana Sports Writers Association statewide football poll after the sixth week of action was released this week and several new teams joined the ranks of the various classes.
The lack of upsets around the state, however, meant there were no changes at the top of the rankings in any class. In Class 5A, West Monroe moved up to No. 4 from No. 7, while Alexandria (5-1) dropped from No. 2 to No. 7 after losing to WMHS (5-1).
In Class 4A, the first six spots remained unchanged with North DeSoto (6-0) leading the way. Vandebilt Catholic (6-0) joined the poll at No. 10. Class 3A saw Lake Charles Prep (4-2) move back into the poll at No. 10.
Ouachita Christian (6-0) remains in Class 2A’s top spot with the top 6 also remaining unchanged although Mangham (5-1) joined 2A at No. 10.
There were no newcomers to the Class 1A poll where Haynesville maintained its stranglehold on No. 1 with 10 of 11 first place votes.
