Ruben Amorim has opted to play Casemiro at the base of Manchester United’s midfield this season, with the Brazilian starting five times in the Premier League.
Manuel Ugarte has managed only two starts, while Kobbie Mainoo is yet to get into the starting XI. This shows how much the former Real Madrid superstar has impressed the head coach.
Initially, when the ex-Sporting CP boss took over at Old Trafford, the Brazil skipper hardly got a game, but with hard work and professionalism on and off the pitch, he won over Amorim and eventually became one of his warriors.
Despite his importance to the Portuguese tactician’s plans, INEOS are not too happy with the wages he commands, and with the five-time Champions League winner’s contract coming to an end, they have no plans of offering him an extension.
Casemiro set to leave
The 33-year-old is among the highest earners at United, with him commanding a weekly wage of £350,000, excluding bonuses as per Capology.
In fact, as per journalist Rudy Galetti, Casemiro’s current contract includes the option of adding a year, but the co-owners want to reduce the wage bill, and restructure the midfield, which effectively means he will be leaving in 2026.
🚨‼️ Unless something changes dramatically, this will be Casemiro's final season at Man UTD.

The plan is clear: move on, reduce the wage bill, and make adjustments in midfield.

“Some names are already under consideration,” the journalist wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
On his substack, the reporter even claimed, “A departure could take place as early as January, though a free transfer next summer appears more likely.” So an exit might be come sooner than expected.
Departure will allow INEOS to spend big on a replacement
His departure could open the doors for the Red Devils to spend big on a replacement like Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, or Elliot Anderson.
Amorim certainly could do with more quality given the obvious lack of balance in the middle of the park currently.
Saudi clubs are ready to pounce on the Brazilian, while interestingly, United could net a small fee as well if they agree on a winter departure.
Fiorentina are eyeing the defensive midfielder with David de Gea pushing for a reunion.
