Chelsea sent youngster Kendry Paez out on loan to sister club Strasbourg to earn enough experience before coming back to Stamford Bridge to shine.

The Chelsea starlet has enjoyed a fantastic start to life in France, which will please the Blues. Paez picked up the Ligue 1 Gem of the Month Award for a sensational September.

The future Chelsea playmaker came on against Le Havre and provided a spark as Strasbourg claimed a late, important win.

He then followed it with his first goal of the season in the 3-2 victory over Paris FC. The 18-year-old had a more subdued outing against Olympique Marseille.

It is also worth noting that Strasbourg head coach Liam Rosenior has used Paez in a variety of positions, making him a versatile asset when he joins Chelsea.

Paez is still finding his groove in European football, but the early signs are very positive. The Ecuadorian has all the tools to be a decisive playmaker.

Chelsea will now be watching closely, hoping Paez can build on this promising start and show that he can handle the demands of top-level football week in, week out.

Consistency will be the key as he looks to turn flashes of brilliance into sustained influence for Strasbourg.

The Blues invested £17.27 million to sign the ‘extremely talented’ Paez, and this season represents a crucial proving ground for his talent.

If he continues to progress, Chelsea could welcome back a more polished and confident player, capable of offering competition and cover for Cole Palmer in the number 10 role.

Stamford Bridge remains the ultimate destination, but Paez must show he can deliver in Europe’s more physical, tactical environment.

Chelsea’s coaching staff will be eager to see whether their gamble on the teenage prodigy will pay off when he returns to West London next summer.
