Barcelona have had a difficult international break in terms of injuries, with several players having been affected. Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres all withdrew from the Spain squad, and now each of their diagnoses is known.
Dani Olmo ruled out until November
Barcelona are confident of Lamine Yamal being available against Girona this weekend, but they will not be able to count on Olmo. As per an official medical report, the Catalans have confirmed that the midfielder “has injured the soleus in his left leg, with no damage to connective tissue”. As per MD, he is expected to miss 2-3 weeks, which would mean that he is unavailable for El Clasico in 12 days’ time.

Olmo went into the international break with muscle discomfort, but rather than returning to Barcelona, the Spanish national team’s medical staff were monitoring his progress during the training camp. He had been getting better, but on Friday, it was revealed that he had suffered a small relapse, which led to him withdrawing from the squad ahead of matches against Georgia and Bulgaria.
Barcelona receive better news with Ferran Torres
Earlier in the week, it was also confirmed that Ferran had been forced to withdraw from the Spain squad with his own physical problems. Barcelona have since confirmed that he “has an overload in the hamstring muscles of his left leg, with no associated injury”. As such, MD say that he should be available to face Girona on Sunday, which is much-needed good news for the Catalans.
Olmo’s absence is a blow, albeit less than usual considering his poor form in recent weeks – couple with the fact that Fermin Lopez is returning from his own injury. As for Ferran, Hansi Flick will be thankful to count on him, although he may still be rested for the Girona match, with a view to El Clasico the following weekend.
