Barcelona youngster on the radars of Bundesliga heavyweights – report

Guille Fernandez is regarded as one of the most promising young talents coming through the ranks at Barcelona’s famed La Masia youth academy.

The 17-year-old midfield prodigy has worked with the senior setup under Hansi Flick, participating in pre-season and training sessions thereafter, without yet making his first-team debut.

Borussia Dortmund interested

Now, according to BILD in Germany, Borussia Dortmund have shown an interest in Guille’s situation at Barcelona and are considering signing him in the near future.

As per the report, the teenage midfielder’s family is pushing for him to have more involvement at the first-team level, something that has not yet happened at the Catalan club.

While he was in the squad for the opening game of the season, Guille was sent back to Barça Atletic from thereon, with the youngster making a couple of appearances for the reserve team before an ankle sprain sidelined him.

It must be noted that Guille was already attracting a lot of interest from clubs across Europe during the summer transfer window.

However, the 17-year-old rejected all offers and opted to stay put at Barcelona to keep working to earn a place in the senior setup.

Guille’s current contract with Barcelona runs until 2027, meaning he will enter the final year of his deal next summer, when he will also be turning 18.

It remains to be seen whether Borussia Dortmund do come calling for him at that point and whether he would be open to a move in search of first-team opportunities.
