The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have kicked back into gear their long-term pursuit of a member of the midfield ranks at Chelsea.
That’s according to Fichajes, who point towards Enzo Fernández as the player in question.
The name of Argentine international Enzo has of course been linked with that of Real Madrid on a number of occasions in the past.
Stretching back to the midfielder’s time in Portugal with Benfica, Los Blancos are understood to have earmarked Enzo as the kind of player capable of plying his trade in Spain’s capital.
Links between the parties had gone somewhat quiet over recent months, but as alluded to above, this week, they have reemerged in force.
As per a report from Fichajes, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements in the middle of the park following the respective exits of Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić:
‘Real Madrid has intensified its interest in midfielder Enzo Fernández. Xabi Alonso sees Fernández as a key piece for his project, seeking his incorporation despite the difficulties in the negotiation.’
Chelsea are expected to demand a sum in the region of €100 million to sanction the 24-year-old’s sale.
