Buddy Boeheim's sweet 3-point shot is going to a new home.
The former Syracuse fan favorite, and son of Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim, has signed with an NBA team about a week before the start of the regular season.
The Oklahoma City Thunder announced Tuesday that they have signed Boeheim to a contract as part of their 21-man training camp roster.
Boeheim has played in 20 career NBA games, all with the Detroit Pistons in very limited minutes.
Last season, Boeheim was exclusively in the G League. He played for OKC's affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue. At that level, Buddy averaged 12.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
He let it fly throughout this past G League season, attempting 9.2 3-pointers per game and making 37.7% of them.

Buddy will likely end up back with the Oklahoma City Blue in the G League when the season gets underway. An Exhibit 10 contract is likely what he signed with the Thunder, and that incentivizes him with a bonus to stay in the OKC organization once the NBA roster is finalized.
The 6-foot-5 Boeheim spent four seasons with the Orange in college. He averaged 6.8 points as a freshman, 15.3 as a sophomore, 17.8 as a junior and 19.2 as a senior. In his college career, he shot 36.2% from 3.
Buddy was first-team All-ACC as a senior.
In his 20 career NBA games, he has scored 50 total points while shooting just 24% from 3 in a small sample.
Buddy won't start the season with the defending NBA champions, but if he could make it up to the Thunder roster at some point, that'd be a cool accomplishment.
