Where Alabama basketball sits in initial 2025-26 KenPom rankings

Here is a detailed look into Alabama basketball's recent KenPom preseason ranking.

Alabama basketball is officially right around the corner.

The Tide currently find themselves ranked as the No. 23 team in the country, according to the initial KenPom rating of the season, as Nate Oats and company will look to build upon a very strong 2024-25 season. Alabama will have a total of eight returning players from last year's Elite Eight team as the Tide could quickly rank among the best teams in college basketball.

Alabama could thrive throughout the 2025-26 season. Oats has solidified himself as one of the top coaches in all of college basketball and will have an extremely talented roster to work with. The Tide are currently ranked as the No. 4 best team in the SEC as well, according to the AP Poll, as Alabama will find themselves facing the top competition in the country on a regular basis.

Labaron Philon is expected to play a crucial role for the Tide this season. The talented sophomore was widely expected to enter the NBA draft following his freshman season, but Philon ultimately chose to return to Tuscaloosa for another year. Philon was originally projected to be a first round pick in 2025, but Nate Oats and his staff will now have another elite shooter at their disposal.

Alabama could quickly find themselves moving up in the rankings as the season moves on, but the Tide will have to be at their best for the majority of the season and SEC play.

Alabama will begin their season on Nov. 3 as the Tide will host North Dakota in Coleman Coliseum for the season opener.
