For one Texas high school football team that has yet to find the win column this season, they have decided to close up shop for the rest of the 2025 season.
According to a report by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, the Itasca Wampus Cats have forfeited the final four games of their 2025 schedule due to a growing number of players out of action because of injuries.
The Wampus Cats are 0-6 on the season and have been out-scored 256-28 through six contests. Itasca’s first couple of losses on the season to Moody and Frost were competitive games, but the four following contests afterwards have been one-sided matchups.
Over the course of the last four games, the Wampus Cats have been out-scored by a combined 202-7.
With Itasca having to forfeit their last four games, the teams that will receive forfeit victories due to the cancelations are Valley Mills, Rio Vista, Italy and Axtell.
In the previous three seasons before the 2025 campaign, Itasca was 14-16 through 30 games played from 2022-24.
