⚽BOYS SOCCER - Division I
Hendricken 4, Moses Brown 0
WARWICK − Bishop Hendricken has now beaten every boys soccer team it’s played this season.
A loss to East Providence was avenged with a victory. A draw with Moses Brown led to Tuesday night, and there was no grounding the Hawks this time in a rematch with the Quakers.
Colin Blanchette opened the scoring and Jack Mefford added a hat trick as Bishop Hendricken (13-1-1) pulled away for a 4-0 victory over Moses Brown (10-1-3) in Division I.
“I feel like we were just kick and run the first time,” Mefford said. “We moved the ball. We switched positions.”
It was scoreless at the half before the Hawks cranked up the pressure. Declan Spencer’s clearance off the line kept the Quakers level until the 50th minute. Blanchette swung in a corner kick off the right side, and the curl he generated coupled with a brisk wind at Fracassa Stadium carried it into the net to make it 1-0.
“The wind just took it straight in,” Mefford said. “Very powerful corner – I was going to go up for it.”
Moses Brown had a man sent off for a second yellow card in the 62nd minute and Bishop Hendricken punished the visitors from there. Matt Marcello, Charlie Urso and Tristan Boyns all picked up assists as Mefford added to the lead in style.
“We’ve worked very hard in the offseason,” Mefford said.
The Hawks suffered a 2-0 road loss to the Townies before answering with a 5-1 thumping at home last week. They battled to a 1-1 tie with the Quakers in Providence earlier this month before producing this result. Bishop Hendricken has Classical, Bishop Feehan (Mass.), Central and Central Catholic (Mass.) left on the schedule before opening postseason defense of its state crown.
“Everyone just came together,” Mefford said. “I feel like we’ve had a better season in this one than last one.”

⚽BOYS SOCCER - Division III
Burrillville 4, Toll Gate 1
WARWICK − Burrillville further cemented the top spot in the Division III boys soccer power point standings with an impressive second-half display Tuesday evening.
Sam Hernandez and Ethan Withington each scored twice as the Broncos pulled away from Toll Gate, 4-1, in a matchup of the league’s top two teams at Warwick Veterans Middle School.
Withington's goal was a record-setter, making him the Broncos' all-time leader in career goals with 58. Hernandez’s second goal in the 70th minute was the winner, a simple finish in front after a beautiful diagonal pass off the right by Connor Dobson. He picked Hernandez out from long range and slipped the ball between two central defenders, allowing Hernandez to run onto it and bury a shot with his right foot.
That goal snapped a 1-1 tie, with Hernandez scoring the opener for Burrillville (11-1-1) and Gabe Politelli notching a brave equalizer for the Titans (10-2-0) with a redirection in heavy traffic off a corner kick. Withington knifed in front for some insurance in the 74th minute and put away his own rebound in in the 77th to help the visitors seal it. The Broncos extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches and stopped Toll Gate’s winning streak at nine.
