Don't look now, but the Carolina Panthers are hot.
After starting out the 2025 season with an 0-2 record, the Panthers have now won three of their last four matchups. The team's latest win came in a thrilling match against the Dallas Cowboys in Charlotte, and the vibes are definitely improving around the team.
However, if the Panthers plan on making the most of this season, they need to improve the group of pass-catchers. Rookie Tetairoa McMillan has been as advertised, but the youngster doesn't have much help.
McMillan has caught 27 passes for 380 yards and two touchdowns. No other wide receiver on the team has even 110 receiving yards, and Hunter Renfrow is the only other wide receiver with 10+ catches.
To solve that, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports suggests the Panthers trade for Jakobi Meyers of the Las Vegas Raiders. Meyers is having another solid season, with 29 catches for 329 yards so far.
However, the Raiders have just two wins and don't appear to be contending soon. As a result, it wouldn't be surprising to see the veteran put on the trade block.
Regarding a possible Meyers move, Benjamin offered the following:
Are we sleeping on Carolina at 3-3? The Panthers are such a tough read given Bryce Young's volatility under center, but they're not out of the picture in the NFC South, and theoretically, they should still be in hot pursuit of anyone who can help accelerate Young's growth. Meyers lacks a long-term place with the Las Vegas Raiders, but he's the kind of proven route-runner Adam Thielen once was for the Panthers. He may not stretch the field at this point in his career, but as a savvy rental to pair with rookie Tetairoa McMillan, you could do a lot worse.
As Benjamin pointed out, the Panthers need to get as many weapons as possible for Bryce Young. Also, Meyers is set to enter free agency after this season, so the Raiders likely want to get something before allowing the veteran to leave for nothing.
In Carolina, Meyers would immediately start on the outside opposite McMillan. Xavier Legette has struggled to perform consistently, and playing behind a veteran like Meyers may work wonders for the young receiver.
Meyers would also be an interesting fit with the Panthers as he played his college ball at nearby North Carolina State. A trio of McMillan, Renfrow, and Meyers would easily be the best group of pass-catchers Young has ever had as a pro.
