For the first time in over 30 years, York Hall will host sumo, as The Grand Sumo Tournament comes to London.

The Grand Sumo Tournament will be available on DAZN.

The Grand Sumo Tournament 2025 date, start time

• Date: Wednesday,October 15 - Sunday, October 19
• Start time (Oct. 15 - Oct. 18): 7:30 p.m. BST / 2:30 p.m. ET

The Grand Sumo Tournament is in York Hall from October 15 to 19. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. BST / 2:30 p.m. ET. The last day of the event will start at 2 p.m. BST / 9 a.m. ET.

Over 40 rikishi will be in York Hall for the ultimate sumo tournament. They will be competing on a dohyo, a mound of clay and sand representing the sumo rings of Japan.

The event is expected to have sacred rituals and dramatic clashes.

There will be over 20 bouts across multiple days. Prizes will be awarded based on performance. Each bout will be four-minute contests and the winner at the end of the tournament will be named Grand Champion.

"Good things come to those who wait. The fact they’ve chosen to come back when they could have gone to any capital city around the world is quite an honour, particularly for us here at the Royal Albert Hall," chief executive James Ainscough said via Metro.
