West Ham United Want To Sign This 29-Year-Old Striker: Will He Be A Good Fit For The Hammers?

West Ham United remain restless in their hunt for a reliable striker who can bring goals and consistency back to the London Stadium. The club’s struggles in front of goal this season have exposed a problem that refuses to go away. With the January window getting closer, talk of a new forward has started to build real momentum.

We reported earlier that West Ham want to offer Luis Guilherme plus cash to sign Vitor Roque. Now, the focus seems to be shifting toward a more Premier League-proven option. Former senior scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the Hammers have a keen interest in Ivan Toney.

West Ham United consider a move for Ivan Toney

Brown, who still has close ties to the club, said that the former Brentford striker’s possible availability has alerted the Hammers. He explained that Toney fits the type of striker Nuno Espírito Santo needs. The forward is strong, physical, and clinical in front of the goal. West Ham’s current forwards have lacked sharpness and consistency this season.

This has left Nuno short of dependable options. Brown said that with few good strikers on the market and limited funds available, a loan deal could make sense for both sides. Toney, who spent months out due to suspension, is now ready to play again. He could give West Ham the sharpness that they have been missing in that role since Michail Antonio’s form dropped.

“Ivan Toney is definitely on West Ham’s radar. We know they’re going to need a striker because the ones they’ve got aren’t good enough.”
“I think he would be a good fit in their team because he’s strong and physical and always scored goals, and that would suit him as well if he could play like that.”
“When you look at what strikers are available, there aren’t many available out there, and certainly not many with the record Toney has got.”
“If he’s going to be available on loan, it’s certainly something they’ll be looking at because it seems they might not have too much money to spend on permanent moves.”
“So to get a striker like Toney in on loan, with the qualities he brings, they’d have to consider it.”

Meanwhile, Pete O’Rourke hinted at a January move for Joshua Zirkzee amid West Ham interest. This shows that the club is exploring several possibilities before deciding who fits their plans best.

Why Ivan Toney could be worth the gamble?

This feels like the kind of bold move West Ham need to make. Ivan Toney’s Premier League experience makes him an appealing option for a team desperate for presence up front. He scores goals and is good with line-up play. The 29-year-old handles physical battles with ease, qualities that will help Nuno. The Englishman’s proven knack for turning half-chances into goals could be the difference between another mid-table finish and a push toward Europe.

Still, his price could be a concern. If the Hammers spend heavily on one player, then that might limit West Ham’s ability to strengthen weaker areas like midfield and defence. Jarrod Bowen has performed well in central roles, and that adds another tactical issue for Nuno to consider.

Yet, if he truly wants a proper number nine who guarantees goals, the Al-Ahli man is worth the risk. He brings leadership traits, drive, and hunger to score goals. These traits should match West Ham’s ambition. If the club manages to create sales of some fringe players to balance their finances, Toney could become the statement signing that steadies West Ham’s season.
