Barcelona set to meet superagent today amid speculations about teenage gem’s future

According to SPORT, superagent Jorge Mendes is set to land in Barcelona today for an express visit.

The renowned agent has a tight schedule, aiming to resolve several pending issues concerning his players and to meet with Barça’s sporting management following the official renewal ceremony of Frenkie de Jong.

As is often the case, Mendes’s stay will be brief – he is expected to arrive around lunch time, accompanied by his extensive team, and return to Portugal by 6:00 p.m.

Mendes represents several first-team players at Barcelona, including Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, and Marc Casado, as well as Ansu Fati, who has shown signs of resurgence on loan at AS Monaco.

The superagent also manages Guille Fernandez, a promising academy midfielder from Barça Atletic, who is seeking first-team minutes, and is currently considering offers from abroad.

A decision will soon need to be made regarding his future – whether to continue with the reserve team or seek a loan move where he can secure consistent playing time, something he has been pursuing for some time without success.

Borussia Dortmund, for one, have shown an interest in the 17-year-old La Masia midfield prodigy.

Mendes’ plans

During his visits, Mendes prefers to speak directly with each player, maintaining his long-standing approach of face-to-face conversations. Despite his limited time today, he will attempt to meet his clients individually.

These are typically brief but meaningful meetings, where Mendes listens to their concerns, shares his perspective on their current situation, and discusses possible next steps.

This personal and pragmatic method has been a cornerstone of his success throughout his career.

As for his clients at Barcelona, Lamine is expected to make his return to the pitch this weekend against Girona at Montjuic, after recovering from a pubalgia that sidelined him for several weeks.

Balde is also fully fit after recovering from an injury, though he has not yet regained his starting role due to the strong form of Gerard Martin.

In midfield, Casado is likely to see more minutes given the absences of Gavi, Dani Olmo, and the recovering Fermin Lopez, who has rejoined group training and is pushing for a starting spot.
