Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has delivered his verdict on the managerial change at San Siro.

Speaking to Radio Serie A via FCInterNews, the 36-year-old admitted that every change takes time.

Inter Milan severed ties with Simone Inzaghi after four years in June.

Meanwhile, former defender Cristian Chivu returned to San Siro in a different capacity to take over the reins.

Despite his limited experience in senior management, the 44-year-old is taking Serie A by storm.

Furthermore, Chivu has won his opening two Champions League games in charge of the Nerazzurri.

On the other hand, Chivu’s arrival has changed Mkhitaryan’s status at the club.

Once omnipresent in the starting lineup under Inzaghi, he is now a backup option to Petar Sucic, Nicolo Barella, and Hakan Calhanoglu.

However, the Armenian veteran remains enthusiastic about football and has no intention of giving up despite his age.

Before addressing the managerial shift, Mkhitaryan explained his father’s role in his life.

“Yes, he told me that, and it really struck me.

“I remember that moment, and I’ve tried to do my best ever since. I hope I am a good person. And I’m grateful to him.

“He believed in me during the seven years I lived with him.”

Asked whether he’s still playing with enthusiasm, Mkhitaryan replied: “Yes, if I’m still playing, it means I still have the desire and that I’m still able to give something to my team and to football.

“I’ll try to keep going; if not, I’ll retire. We’ll see at the end of the season.

“So far, I go to training every day with great motivation to improve and to win.”

Then, he revealed what he had always dreamed of.

“To raise my children the way I would’ve wanted my father to raise me,” he admitted.

Finally, he offered his verdict on Chivu’s appointment.

“Speaking of the football we’re playing, it’s a bit different from what we did under Inzaghi.

“We’re still working to improve and to do what the coach asks of us – it’s difficult.

“When you change managers, it takes time. We’re trying our best to play the kind of football he wants from us.”
