The Tampa Bay Buccaneers opted not to put Mike Evans on Injured Reserve, hoping his hamstring injury would keep him out for three or fewer games.

Well, now he's missed three games, so the only way that plan pays dividends is if Evans returns for the Week 7 Monday Night Football matchup with the Detroit Lions.

There's good news: Evans might actually be back for this one.

The Buccaneers are also dealing with WR injuries to Chris Godwin and Emeka Egbuka, so an Evans return would be huge.

When is Mike Evans coming back?

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Wednesday that there's a real chance Evans is back in Week 7.

This is part of what Fowler wrote in his new article: "Mike Evans (hamstring) will give it a go in practice this week with hopes of playing Monday against Detroit. Evans has missed three games and had hoped to avoid a fourth."

Fowler went on to note the statistical reason that an Evans return could be key, too.

Evans has had 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to begin his NFL career. The only player with a streak of that length (and not to start his career) is Jerry Rice, who also had 11 in a row.

So far this season, Evans has just 140 receiving yards. A return this week would mean 11 games to get another 860 yards.

That might be tough to pull off anyway, but with his peers missing time, too, maybe Evans could get enough targets to rack up that much yardage.

Of course, a hamstring injury can be pretty tricky, so the Bucs and Evans still need to be careful. A recurring injury wouldn't help anyone's cause.
